    For a while she was an angel
    Albeit a reluctant one
    Adored and loved
    Treasured beyond all measure

    For a while she was an angel
    Light, happy and full of joy
    Each day held such promise
    It was easy to believe

    Now dreams lie scattered at her feet
    Trampled in the dust
    Her wings in shreds as she flails
    And body wracked with pain

    This angel is only human
    As she did protest when named
    And like all humans everywhere
    She bleeds and hurts the same
