May I bring you breakfast
In a cosy winter bed
Perhaps sweet pain au chocolat
Dark coffee, to wash it down
Or strawberries – plump, juicy and sweet
To tempt and treat
As I run them ‘cross your lips
I wonder what you’d say
May I bring you lunch
On a blanket in the sun
Cheeses, breads, preserves
The ones I know you like
To a quiet secluded spot
With gentle breeze tickling naked knees
Brushing crumbs from your chest
A feast to reel you in
And I wonder what you’d say
May I bring you dinner
Under a silver star-clad sky
Soft linens, candle-light, only the best
And simple fare to share
Cooked with joy, abandon,
A healthy dose of love and passion
As day comes to an end
Yes, still,
I wonder what you’d say
